Scott Good's Trumpet Concerto 'Between the Rooms'

I am thrilled to be playing Scott Good's spectacular Trumpet Concerto 'Between the Rooms' with London Symphonia on October 5th, with the great Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser conducting.

Commissioned by the Kitchener Waterloo Symphony Orchestra for their Principal Trumpet Larry Larson in 2007, I am honoured to be the one who gets to bring this rich, dramatic concerto back to the concert stage. It's always wonderful to be featured as a soloist, but I couldn't be more excited that this is the piece I get to play.

The concert will be live-streamed and available on-demand afterwards, so even if you can't make it in person put it in your calendar!

CD Launch Recital presented by the Instrumental Society of Calgary

Join Adam Zinatelli and Akiko Tominata for the album launch of ‘Fifteen Feet Closer to the Sky’! This programme showcases the work of two living Canadian composers, William Rowson (b. 1977) and Dorothy Chang (b. 1970). Framing their new works (in Chang’s case a brand-new commission) with works from the mid-20th century provides context as to what is new and unique about their voices, while also showcasing the more sensitive side of the trumpet, which often takes a backseat to the power that often stays in the listener’s mind.

Canadian National Brass Project at Ottawa Chamberfest

The Canadian National Brass Project is true Canadiana. Drawing from the title chairs of fifteen North American orchestras and under the artistic leadership of Canada’s premiere horn soloist James Sommerville, this special collaboration shines a light on Canada’s foremost players and composers. The project returns to Chamberfest with a cleverly curated program bolstered by impeccable technique. Featuring both humorous and powerful interpretations of well-loved classics, work by contemporary composers, and some choral music reimagined for horns, the performance includes Canadian composer Nicole Lizée’s skittishly evocative How to Fake Your Own Death (2015) and Canadian Kevin Lau’s cinematically adventurous CAGE (2016). Like a playfully energizing wind, this all-star brass ensemble promises to deliver a lively and refreshing blast of a concert!
